Renewal by Andersen of the Quad Cities and Central IL Support Kids in Need

A chance meeting turns into an ongoing commitment to a local center for youth services.

At Renewal by Andersen, our commitment extends beyond providing top-quality services; it’s about making a real difference in the communities we serve. The teams from our Quad Cities and Central Illinois locations exemplify this spirit through their dedicated support of the Center for Youth and Family Solutions.

This relationship began in 2019 with a simple act of kindness when the owner of the QC and Central Illinois location, Sam Heer, noticed a young boy on his son’s junior high basketball team who was from the Guardian Angel Home

The Guardian Angel Home, part of Center for Youth and Family Solutions, is a home for children who have been removed from extremely traumatic and dangerous situations. One of the goals of the center is to reintegrate these children into public schools, where they can participate in sports and other extracurricular activities. Recognizing the financial hurdles this boy on his son’s basketball team must be facing, Heer and his family established a fund through the local community foundation to help children from the Guardian Angel Home participate in extracurricular activities. From it's small start as the product of wanting to help a single child, has grown to $50,000 and now provides significant support to many children.

Over the years, this relationship between the Renewal locations and the Center for Youth and Family Solutions has blossomed into a robust collaboration. The Renewal team discovered that the Center has a presence in both the regions of their storefronts. This connection inspired the Renewal by Andersen of the Quad Cities and Central Illinois teams to make their recent donation of $40,000 to help fund the organization’s work, including services that state funding doesn’t cover, such as adoptions, foster care, and mental health services.

Quad Cities and Central Illinois have a long-time relationship with Center for Youth and Family SolutionsBeyond the financial help, these two Renewal markets have broadened their support by hosting a charity golf outing that directly supports the Guardian Angel Home. Team members volunteer at the event and contribute funds not only to the Guardian Angel Home but also to grants for talented golfers who face financial burdens.

The initiatives don’t stop there! The locations now also host events such as a Foster Family Appreciation event in the Quad Cities and participate in Christmas gift shopping for the children at the Guardian Angel Home during the holiday season. These initiatives not only raise funds but also bring the community together to support the Guardian Angel Home. “Supporting this cause is deeply personal not only to Sam and his family but also to our team members," says Maddy Becker, marketing specialist for Renewal by Andersen of the Quad Cities and Central Illinois. “As a company, we genuinely care about our community and the impact we can make, especially when we can see the difference firsthand. We value our relationship with the Center for Youth and Family Solutions and are excited to continue supporting them.”
