Four Renewal by Andersen Locations Help Feeding America
Window of Giving program helps food banks in several local communities
The Esler Companies four Renewal locations (Renewal by Andersen of Arizona; Colorado; Greater Philadelphia, and Southern New England) are built on a culture of giving back, as evidenced by their Window of Giving Program—for every window sold /installed by an RbA teammate in the Esler organization, $5 goes to the program, providing paid volunteer time, “wish list” donations, grant funding and sponsorship, and a 3:1 corporate match.
One such recent beneficiary was Feeding America, a nationwide, nonprofit network of more than 200 food banks that feed more than 46 million people through food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other community-based agencies.
Says Window of Giving program manager Betty Shea, “The basic need for food in this country is concerning. Feeding America was quick to action when COVID happened. They were eager to prepare for the food insecurity that was bound to happen in all our communities, and we were happy to be able to help.
That quick action by their organization was admirable and very important to all. Feeding America governs many food banks across the country and we were able to identify a local food bank in each Esler location–so they donations were truly felt by all our offices. So it was a win/win for all. Giving back is a large part of our internal culture because we lead with love and it’s the right thing to do”
Through Window of Giving, Renewal employees in the Esler locations were able to help contribute $37,000 to their local hunger relief organizations--$7,500 in each city. Says Shea, “These donations will have great impact on each community particularly during this unpresented time. Window of Giving remains an important part of our company and culture, and we are able to do this because of our wonderful teammates.”
John May, finance manager for Renewal by Andersen of Greater Philadelphia, was on hand to present Philly’s check to Philabundance, Delaware Valley’s largest hunger relief organization, acquiring, rescuing, and distributing food to 90,000 people weekly in 9 counties in PA and NJ—30% of whom are children; 16%, seniors.
Says May, “Philadelphia is the poorest big city in the country, but to hear that during the pandemic 1 in 2 Philadelphians are struggling to put food on their tables was shocking. It feels great to know that the money we donated to Philabundance would provide 15,000 meals for those in need.”
