Eastern New York launches Labor of Love giving program; partners with Girls, Inc.

Renewal by Andersen of Eastern New York (serving the Albany and Hudson Valley, New York regions) has partnered with Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region, donating a 33 window replacement project to the Girls Inc. property located at 962 Albany Street in Schenectady, and providing volunteer labor to install the windows and revitalize the grounds.

95 volunteers from Renewal by Andersen of Eastern NY’s ‘Labor of Love’ community outreach program worked to revitalize the Girls Inc. property, providing new Renewal by Andersen windows along with certified master installation. In addition, the team provided landscaping and general clean-up and maintenance of the property.

“Girls Inc. is doing great things to support girls and young women in our community. When we announced this project to our employees, the response was overwhelming. Everyone was excited to help,” says Eric Minkiewicz, President of Renewal by Andersen of Eastern New York.

In an effort to foster a winning environment for their employees, customers and community, Renewal by Andersen of Eastern NY has created the Labor of Love initiative. “The goal of the Labor of Love is to give back to the communities our employees live and work in through hands on projects,” says Minkiewicz.

Girls Inc. of the Greater Capital Region started in 1937 and its mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. The organization is committed to helping girls build skills and capabilities for a responsible, confident and self-sufficient adulthood. Girls Inc. provides free access to a wide range of programs addressing STEM education, health & nutrition, pregnancy & drug use prevention, media & economic literacy and career exploration through fun, hands-on, educational activities that build life skills.

“Our job is to really help girls dream just a little bigger than they ever thought they could,” says Ashley Jeffrey Bouck, executive director at Girl Inc. of the Greater Capital Region. Membership to Girls Inc. is free, and member girls have access to more than $25,000 per year in college scholarships.

“We are beginning renovation of our entire facility and we’re very excited to kick it off with Renewal by Andersen. We really want to foster an environment where the girls can learn, be happy and be safe,” says Bouck. “The windows donated by Renewal by Andersen will provide a more comfortable place for our girls to learn and grow all year long, as well as save us money on our energy bills. Replacing our broken and outdated windows will make the property more secure, and now more of our rooms will be usable year round.”

What People Are Saying: January Featured Testimonials

“I am extremely satisfied with the whole process. Everyone from the salesperson, to customer service agents, to the installers were so professional.

I really liked that you could virtually place the door on my home, so that I could see what it looked like before purchasing it. The clean-up was impeccable. The timing was what was expected. I wish everyone in the home improvement industry was as great as your company.

Love My New Door! Thank You!”

“We were very impressed by all of the people involved in replacing our windows, beginning with the sales representative who came to our house, the field supervisor who took the final measurements, installation team, and touch-up painter. Everyone had worked in the replacement window business for many years, including several years for Renewal by Andersen.

Experienced workers make all the difference in a remodel job such as this and the fact that they continue to work for Andersen speaks well for the company.”
