Team Spotlight

Renewal by Andersen of Alaska builds backpacks for kids

This month’s team spotlight is on RbA Alaska for their work with Anchorage Home Builders Association’s annual shoebox drive.

The Shoebox Program is one of the AHBA’s most popular annual events. Members fill backpacks with Christmas gifts for Anchorage children who are less fortunate during the holidays. Dozens of volunteers gather for the annual stuffing party, where they assemble the backpacks and add basic hygiene items to each like a winter hat, pair of gloves, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss and soap. School nurses pick up the packs the following day and distribute them to the children prior to their holiday break. The program sponsors nearly 1,200 children.

RbA of Alaska’s Sales and Marketing teams worked together to stuff 250 of those backpacks this year—with employees donating for than half the cost of sponsorship for them.

Says Ashley Wigglesworth, marketing manager for RbA Alaska, “It’s a fantastic program that helps ensure local kids have a wonderful Christmas, and we're thrilled to be helping out again this year!”

What People Are Saying: January Featured Testimonials

"The 4 guys who did our installation were so professional and polite. They put down drop cloths through my whole house, and worked very efficiently. I never saw them take a break. They knew it was going to be a long days work and once they established how they were going to complete the job on all the windows in our historic 1831 home, they worked as a well oiled team. I am wondering why we waited so long to do this. Our home is now quieter, if that’s possible in the middle of a 200 acre farm, and warmer! We will not miss all our drafts! We were replacing 30-year-old windows and definitely made the right choice!"

"We had an amazing team of four skilled young men who put up with freezing cold temps, our crazy dog and our less than conventional house. They worked very well, cleaned up every day, and left our place spotless. All of this plus we got a high quality product that will last us the rest of our time in this house. AND we so appreciate our [customer care representative]!! She, too, put up with our crazy dog and my at-times difficult husband. She was clear in everything that she told us and was patient with our delaying things. I would love to eventually replace more of our windows and if we do, you will be the first that we call. Thank you for a great new view and a great experience."
