"Freezin' for a Reason"
Renewal by Andersen of Alaska makes a splash for a great cause
This winter, a group of our teammates from Renewal by Andersen of Alaska braved the elements to join the Special Olympics Polar Plunge, an annual December event where hundreds of Alaskans come together to raise money in support of Special Olympics athletes. This was Renewal by Andersen of Alaska's first year participating in their local event, and judging by the smiles (and shivers!), it definitely won’t be the last.
Despite the balmy 15°F weather and an 18-mph wind, the team showed up with heart, humor, and an unwavering commitment to the cause. Together, they raised nearly $1,700—a fantastic contribution that will help provide inclusive opportunities for athletes across Alaska.
And while it was the location's first group participation, individual team members have been involved with the cause for a while, and loved the opportunity to get more folks involved. “This was my fifth year jumping, and I was incredibly excited to bring the green team into the mix,” says Eric Rangel, President, RbA of Alaska.
Continues Rangel, “It took a little convincing to get everyone to brave the cold, but once they did, there was no looking back. It was nothing but fun, laughter, and high energy. Every single person asked if we could do it again next year too!! If you're going to be cold, at least be freezin' for a reason!”
