Meetings With Meaning
Renewal by Andersen of Pittsburgh adds meaningful moments to annual meeting.
If giving back is truly who we are, then it’s important that we find ways to do so in every area of our work, even meetings! This year, Renewal by Andersen of Pittsburgh brought Renewal Cares into their annual team kickoff meeting, making community giving fun and collaborative in the format of a team bonding activity.
During the meeting, the team assembled 140 chemo care bags for patients at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s Shadyside location. Each bag was filled with comforting and uplifting items such as:
- Scarves to bring warmth and a sense of comfort during treatment
- Crossword puzzles to help pass the time in infusion rooms
- Snacks to provide a small energy boost
Turning Community Service into Team Building
To make the experience even more engaging, the Pittsburgh team transformed the volunteer project into a dynamic, collaborative team-building game. Each group selected a writer (responsible for completing trivia sheets) and a runner (responsible for delivering answers and retrieving supplies). From there, the friendly competition began:
- Teams completed trivia sheets.
- Runners delivered the sheets to the supply table for checking. For each correct sheet, teams collected a specific item to add to their care bag.
- Once all items were earned, teams packed their chemo care bags.
- Finished bags were placed into shipping boxes.
The result? Laughter, teamwork, problem-solving—and a room full of teammates energized by doing good together.
Great work, Team Pittsburgh! Thank you for representing the Renewal Cares spirit so well!
