Renewal by Andersen of Washington Supports Equine Rescue Center
A chance meeting turns into an ongoing commitment to animals in need of rescue and care
Here at Renewal by Andersen, we strive to make a difference in the lives of our teammates, communities, and homeowners. But sometimes, our homeowners ARE the Difference Makers. Thanks to a friendship with a homeowner, Renewal by Andersen of Washington discovered a new way to give back in their community.
Ann, a homeowner in Washington, volunteers at Serenity Equine Rescue & Rehabilitation. When she invited the RbA of Washington team to join her, they jumped at the opportunity.
“We received so much positive feedback not only from the community service committee members but from teammates sitting around me who happened to overhear what I was discussing with the committee,” says Amanda Street, HR generalist and Renewal Cares ambassador for Renewal by Andersen of Washington, Boise, and Central California.
This partnership has now blossomed into a yearly commitment that staff and management eagerly support. Each spring, the team dedicates a day to volunteering at Serenity. From removing harmful plants and debris in the paddocks to cleaning stalls and maintaining fences, the team’s efforts are vital in providing a safe and nurturing environment for the animals.
"At first, we looked at the opportunity with a big question mark; how does helping neglected horses connect with Renewal by Andersen?" says Street. The answer became clear as the team immersed themselves in the work. “We feel like it connects to RbA's mission statement and our community service committee’s mission statement: Our goal is to infuse our company culture in our community. We will make a resounding impact by facilitating events and taking steps to donate to our local non-profits. It’s an opportunity to connect with RbA teammates who we may not know on a personal level, work as a team to improve the lives of these horses and give back to a community that has given to us."
The annual volunteer day has become a highlight for many on the Washington team, so much so that they are considering volunteering at Serenity more frequently throughout the year.
